[There's another shrug while he fumbles for the right words. It hadn't felt to him like Viktor was doing anything when he hadn't noticed any changes in the way Adachi responded to him.]

It just keeps feeling the same. Like he's pissed off at me for not "getting over it".

[ Another big sip from his drink before he turns to face Yuri more. ]

[He grumbles and leans forward with a dejected sigh, resting his elbows on his knees.]

[ He eases back from the bluntness though, softening his voice. ]

I thought I saw in the post that he said he wouldn't go. It'd be pretty obvious if one of the imPort skaters didn't go to the event though. Even if he does show up, you can always quietly make an exit.

[There's another sigh, sharper and exasperated.]

Fuck it, Viktor. I can take care of myself. [Because, really he's been so good at that so far.]

If he says he won't show up, I'll hold him to that, Yura, just like all the other promises I'm holding him to. And no, you're not supposed to act like anything, but there is such a thing as discretion. Even I know what that means, and that should say something.

[ But he looks closer at Yuri at the sigh. ]

If I'm anything close to discreet then he starts trying to get chummy with me, or he starts hanging all over you like some fucking lovestruck kid on a first date. [Says the doubly lovestruck teen who's just had a pair of first dates.] Like when you got drunk during the flood.

[It might have seemed like he was avoiding the question, and he was! A little. But now he sits up slowly and glances away, too reluctant for eye contact.]

And I mean—I can take care of myself. [Well. He thinks it's a fine explanation.]

Then just ignore him. And—well, that was my fault. I really didn't mean to get that drunk.

No. He was sober, so he should've known better. Isn't that how it works?

Because you can't deal with Adachi at all. You're making excuses for him getting too close to you while you were drunk! You're sort of going to try to work on his flaws. Maybe.

[He scowls darkly at the end of the rant and slumps against the back of the couch.]

... Is that what you mean then? That I can't handle Tohru so you'll take care of it yourself?

[ Viktor tilts his head with the question, the tone curious rather than condescending or disbelieving. ]

[Yuri scowls and crosses his arms with a huff, looking pointedly away.]

I'll just...keep doing what I've been doing. Avoid him when I can, and tell him why I don't like him when I can't. Explain to him how the shit he says and the shit he does don't match up.

He'll have to believe it one day.

Mmm, you could ... but that really hasn't helped anything so far, has it? Doing what you've been doing.

[There's an almost pleading tone to the outburst, and Yurio flushes with embarrassment at revealing that much frustration and tries his best to sink into the couch entirely. He continues in a quieter voice.]

Two people are dead because of him. Two families got fucking destroyed. All their friends... Anyone they ever knew. He's not owed forgiveness or acceptance for that. It doesn't matter what he does or how much of a whiny asshole he is about it.

[He pauses and turns to look at Viktor finally, trying for defiant anger but really looking more uncertain and lost than anything.]

I just don't trust him.

[ Viktor is quiet as well, listening to Yuri while watching him intently, not once looking away despite his earlier outburst. ]

... At all? In anything?

[Yuri can't help but roll his eyes.]

I'd trust a completely random person off the street more.

[ Viktor gives a non-committal hum in acknowledgement, but at least he's not trying to sing Adachi's praises to Yuri, right? ]

That makes me sad to hear, but I do understand why you don't.
