[ Viktor breathes in the scent of Yuuri's hair, using it to steady himself more. ]

It wasn't about what I saw ...

[ Ah. Yuuri huddles in closer. ]

Felt?

[ A silent nod. ]

[nextlevel]

[ He starts stroking up and down Viktor's back gently, his hands moving in a wide circle. ]

It wasn't real. Whatever you felt.

[ He's sweaty and cold under Yuuri's hand, getting goosebumps in the chill night air. ]

Not in the dream anyway.

[nextlevel]

... Right. In the dream, I meant. It can't hurt you any more.

[ But I was the one hurting you. He tightens his arms around Yuuri, not saying it out loud. ]

[nextlevel]

[ Yuuri is happy to lean in closer at that. All but burying his face in Viktor's shoulder. ]

Can you tell me what it was about?

[ There's no answer from Viktor for several beats, still trying to steady himself by using Yuuri as an anchor. It's only after a full minute that he sighs out. ]

Can ... we just lay down again? I might be able to go back to sleep now ...

[ If that's what Viktor wants. Yuuri nods at that, and tugs Viktor back down into bed. ]

Come on.

[ He gratefully lets Yuuri direct him back down to the bed. This time Viktor lays his head on Yuuri's chest with his arm around his fiance's body, purposefully scooting lower in the bed to do it. ]

[ Yuuri gently runs his fingers through Viktor's hair, steady and soothing. ]

I didn't dream about anything at all.

[ Viktor makes a pleased sound in his throat, enjoying the sensation immensely. He also puffs out a quiet breath against Yuuri's skin, and a faint smile is hinted at in his voice. ]

Did I wear you out that you slept so soundly?

[nextlevel]

[ Yuuri keeps going then. ]

Mm-hmm. Safe and tired both.

[fourlevels]

[ The arm around Yuuri's torso tightens briefly, fingers grazing along his side. ]

That's the best way to be tired. There's so much I'd like to do with you ...

We will. We'll get there. And if I have to be patient with you this time, that's only fair.

[ Another puff of not-quite laughter. He appreciates the change of subject to get his mind off of the dream. ]

I don't think I could wait that long again.

[nextlevel]

[ Yuuri's can be emotionally competent when he wants to be, okay. ]

Was it that bad? I must have seemed completely different from the banquet ...

Completely different. I was so surprised when I came to Hasetsu and you kept wanting to avoid me.

I didn't know what I'd done. For me you just showed up out of nowhere because of a viral video.

And I thought you just wanted to forget it happened at all so I didn't want to bring it up or ask. You were already so awkward with me ...

[ Viktor tilts his head up to look at Yuuri, resting his chin on Yuuri's chest. ]

Not quite what I saw at the banquet since you were obviously drunk. But maybe ... more boisterous? More confident certainly, with the way you challenged Chris and Yurio like that.

And then you came to Japan and I was a pile of mush.

Not mush exactly. But certainly in need of someone to listen and just be there.
