[ ...he didn't get it. And it was probably all the more frustrating because it was written all over his face that he didn't understand, but he didn't have the willpower to argue about friendships and bonds he barely understood. Instead his shoulders slumped, and he leaned heavily against the barrier, feeling just as exhausted as Viktor looked. ]
...what now? I can't screw this up, but I'm not sure where to start with them.
[ Viktor leans as well, that outburst draining more than just his irritation, not to mention he was tired from the grueling workout he put himself through. He also starts to shiver, the sweat drenching his body long since cooled against his skin and now turning chilling in the rink air. He leans over the barrier to reach for his jacket, hand starting to shake and forearm covered in goosebumps. ]
There's no easy way to do it or to tip-toe around it. I think you need to just lay it all out there, blunt and to the point.
[ Adachi started moving the moment he saw Viktor shiver, and by the time his fingers were in reach of his jacket, Adachi was already tossing his own over his shoulders without much thought. He turned and leaned his back against the barrier, letting out a heavy breath. ]
So basically call everyone together and just lay it out there like I did for you, hunh?
[ Maybe not in as many words; just stick to what was important and fill in the gaps as questions were asked. Assuming questions were asked and didn't dissolve into yelling. ]
[ Viktor blinks, feeling the jacket around his shoulders just as his fingers close around his own, pulling it up only because he's straightening from the barrier to look at Adachi. His eyes soften at the action, his whole expression relaxing with it. ]
Mmm, I think that's best; nothing held back. I'll be there with you, if you want.
[ He didn't want to smile. This situation was terrible and it was going to be horrendously difficult for them both. But still, despite how incomprehensible Viktor's support was, he was grateful for it all the same. ]
May as well get all the yelling done at in one place, hunh?
[ He was about to reach for his communicator, but paused, frowning to himself. ]
...what about that Akechi kid?
[ His gaze went up to Viktor. ]
Their leader said their bargaining chip had bee giving him a second chance, and he already knows the public story. Should he be in on this?
Hmmm ... I think that might be up for them to decide. If they want to give him that knowledge, they'll tell him after. It's more important that you're upfront with the others first.
[ Despite the jacket, Viktor was still shivering, having spent too long standing still without a proper cool down and covering up to stave off the chill. He moves towards the barrier opening, going to get a hot drink from the vending machine. ]
[ Adachi nodded, reaching for his communicator again, but he paused, casting a worried look at Viktor as he kept shivering. He hesitated, before following after him. It wasn't like anyone would be going anywhere; he could worry about Viktor first and figure out what to say to them later. ]
You all right?
[ ...he totally overworked himself, didn't he? He quickly slipped on the skate guards once he was back on normal ground, tagging after him still. ]
[ He waves a hand towards Adachi, punching an option from the vending machine to hide the way his hand is shaking (hot chocolate instead of coffee since it was later in the evening). ]
I'm fine, I'm fine; I didn't do a proper cool down before stopping since you startled me. I just need to warm back up.
[ Adachi hesitated, before stepping closer to him, biting his lip... and chickening out, reaching over and rubbing at his arm in an attempt to help him warm up instead. ]
[ It was intimidating for him! Adachi flinched, screwing his face up, before muttering a small sounding, "Yes," before swiping through his communicator for Yusuke's number. This was not going to be a fun conversation. ]
[ He watches Adachi the whole time with a soft expression, sipping his drink while he waits. His shivering calms while he waits too, the chocolate and extra layer of clothing helping. ]
[ It's a bit before Adachi let out a soft breath, shaking his head before speaking softly into the communicator. A frown came to his face as he pulled it away from his ear, staring down at the screen. ]
Voicemail. I'll try again in a bit.
[ He hesitated, before letting out a breath. It wasn't just Yusuke and his companions he needed to talk to. ]
[ Adachi shook his head, keeping the conversation brief and ended off with some heartfelt Japanese, before hanging up. ]
[ Dammit, he was such an idiot; he stood there, staring at his phone for a long moment, like it was going to spring to life and eat him. How the hell had the fucked up so badly? ]
[ Viktor stays quiet for several moments, not wanting to disturb Adachi from his thoughts. Only when there was another sound in the rink, some clunk of the air vents or door closing, does Viktor finally move, holding out his hot chocolate to him. ]
[ Adachi let out a faint noise, the movement snapping him out of it. He looked down at the chocolate, to Viktor, to the chocolate, before accepting it, just taking a small sip before handing it back. ]
[ Adachi let out an awkward noise as he heard the click, shouting at the phone even though the screen was showing that the call was disconnected. ]
Kitagawa!
[ He grit his teeth, rage bubbling in the empty void in his gut, but the only thing he could aim it at was himself. A cry ripped out of his throat, and he threw his phone in frustration. It was probably a good thing that it was in an armor case, and all it did was impact against the wall and flop to the floor -- he wasn't exactly in the mood to explain to the government why he needed a new communicator after this. ]
[ Adachi sunk down to his knees after, trembling all over. Even if there was anything to say right now, he couldn't; his throat was closed up, and it was a struggle not to cry out the rest of his frustration. ]
[ Viktor flinched when the phone hit the wall, nearly dropping his cup again. When Adachi sunk down, Viktor could only stare down at him dumbly, not at all certain what to say or do. ]

Ah, thank you. You should call the others first though. I'll be fine in a few minutes.

...I-I'll text.
[ He was a terrible coward and he knew it. ]

Hunh... not bad for a vending machine.

Better than being cold.
[ He sips again quietly, eyes still on Adachi. ]
... You should try them back again. This isn't something you should leave until tomorrow, if possible.

That was Yura's voice ... at the end there. Yura was with Yusuke.
no subject
...which means he's probably going to go right to Yuuri after this. You better get home -- try to salvage this as much as you can.
