They've got what's left of my wrist wrapped up for now. They're gonna see if the nanites in my hand stayed active so they can try reattaching it tomorrow.

[ Welp. Probably no one in Heropa #17 was sleeping just then after the loud shout Viktor just gave at his phone. Makkachin was whining and Yuuri probably either sat up or came in the room (stupid night owls) to see what was wrong, but all Viktor could do for several minutes was stare at Adachi's text in horror.

It was several more minutes before he sends a reply, probably about 7-10 minutes since Adachi sent his. ]

Your hand ... was cut off?

[ This is a dream right? He's still sleeping and he dreamt that reply just now? He needed Adachi to confirm that he read that wrong ... ]

[ Poor Viktor; he felt bad dropping this on him now. Well, he was going to find out eventually, especially if he got stuck with a prosthetic, but he still felt bad. ]

[ Oh my god Adachi, how can you be so blasé while saying that. Viktor takes a few (okay several) deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. ]

But ... the hospital thinks they can ... reattach it?

It depends.

Both ends were cauterized instantly. If the nanites stayed active in the hand, it might be possible. If they died off, I'll need a prosthetic.

[ God how is this conversation even real?? That calm and even temper that Viktor usually keeps has just seemingly abandoned him tonight, being woken up with the news starting him off on a tilt and he just can't seem to right himself. ]

What about healing it? You were the one who told me about healers in the first place!

Might not be possible. I've never seen a healer fix a severed limb.

Viktor, I'll be okay, even if they can't reattach it.

[ And here's wear Viktor's even temper really fails him; it's probably a good thing Adachi can't see his face at the moment. ]

[ Yet another few more minutes pass while Viktor tries to calm himself down, along with the help of his Yuris who came into the bedroom at his earlier shout. When the reply finally comes, it's without the emotional capslock. ]

You said laser sword—was it a light saber? Like the movies?

Laser sword makes more sense. Light can't really cut anything, but I guess it'd be the same thing.

[Yuuri isn't the only one summoned by that scream. Yurio appears in the doorway, pale and a little winded from bolting up the stairs to investigate, and he scans the room with a frantic look before settling on Viktor in concerned confusion.]

[ Viktor who looks fine (and mostly naked) sitting up in bed?? He's staring at his phone with wide eyes though, his skin paler than usual. He turns his face up after a few seconds, staring at Yuri and looking like he had just gotten news that Makkachin died or something equally horrifying. ]

[Ugh does this mean he needs to pretend to care about that asshole now? As much as he'd like to not have to deal with whatever was going on with Adachi, there's no way he can brush off how gutted Viktor looks over it. He hadn't seen that sort of look on him since he fell into the pit in De Chima.

He steps into the room, eyes flicking from Viktor to the phone and back again.]

[Okay, wow, that is actually incredibly alarming whether he likes Adachi or not, but even more alarming is how lost Viktor sounds. That more than the horrific nature of the injury really solidifies how bad a situation this is.]

[ Viktor's eyes drop down to his phone again, but they just sort of meander down to it as if he really was lost looking between the two points. ]

He said something about a laser sword ... an accident.

[Yuri sucks in a sharp breath and throws a hand out to brace himself on the dresser. He's not as shocked by this at Viktor is. It leaves him with enough clarity to realize what a laser sword must be.]

You mean a light saber?

[Like the one Grievous had menaced him with. Fuck, how close had he come to actually becoming a target for that alien bug?]

[ Viktor slowly looks back up, still looking lost, but he's starting to focus on Yuri now. ]

I don't know, he just said laser sword.

[Whether he liked the guy or not, he wasn't about to bombard him with questions while he was dealing with this, and he especially wasn't going to make Viktor do it while he looked this wrecked.]

[ Viktor was already typing out the question, like giving him something to do rather than sit there and fret helped him come out of his shock. ]

At the hospital. He says he's okay, but—how can he say that? It's his hand.

[ He takes a deep breath, closing his eyes briefly as he hits send on his message. ]

If the nanites in his hand are still active, there might be a chance they can ... they can reattach his hand. I can't believe I'm saying something like that in all seriousness ...
